If you owe money to creditor, the creditor has the legal right to bring suit against a debtor in default of the contractual agreement.  I suggest you contact a local consumer rights attorney to discuss your situation as there are various state and federal consumer and legal protections in place to protect your rights and a local attorney will be familiar with your state's consumer protection laws. This is not intended to be legal advice, and is general in its nature. No attorney-client relationship exists or is formed by this information. Furthermore, this does not represent the views or opinions of LexisNexis or its affiliated companies.
