QUESTION

Credit card debt transfer?

Asked on Oct 14th, 2013 on Debtor and Creditor - Texas
More details to this question:
I currently owe thousands on my credit cards because my ex boyfriend used my cards to build up his company. He's slowly paying it off but it's too slow and it scares me because he can just stop paying and then the debt will all go to me. Is there anyway I can take legal actions to force him to take away this debt?

It's probably a good idea to have your boyfriend sign a promissory note agreeing to repay the amount he borrowed on a certain schedule (ex: $300 per month for 12 months). This way if he defaults and the two of you don't work as a couple, you can sue him for the amount owed and will have proof that the debt was a loan and not a gift.
