Denial of payment

I was transported by air to a hospital and now they are denying payments saying it wasn’t medically necessary. I was in the hospital and was not offered another method and they never got a pre authorization. I guess the last thing I was thinking about was payment. Is there any help for something like this? It’s a 33,000$ charge.
