More details to this question:
When I spoke to a bill collector (?) From start of conversation started yelling and telling me I couldn't just ignore a bill for 13 yrs w/o paying, told me I had to give them $1000 or they were sending papers to court. I did a stupid thing and have them the $ and they are also taking $200 a mth out of my acct to pay balance. I have NO paperwork from them, barely got the acct name that I owed on. I am almost 70 his and live on a fixed income. I should have contacted you first but they were telling so much I couldn't think straight.

Possibly. If the company is a real company and not a scam. You need to consider shutting down the access to your account and changing accounts with your bank. You need to retain a lawyer to review this mess ASAP.
