QUESTION

Does she have a case?

Asked on Jan 20th, 2016 on Collections - Florida
More details to this question:
I was on an Att contract with my X best friend. She decided to switch to sprint and my fiance and I switched to boost mobile. We agreed to cover our $667 in cancellation fees for our 2 phones and 2 tablets from att. At first the agreement with her was that I would give her cash in hand by Jan 29th and she would give me a receipt. Since then there has been very limited contact and I have decided that I want to pay att directly for our 4 lines, but I need the pin number on the account to tell them what lines I want to pay off. She refuses to let me have access and I told her I will deal with att directly or not at all. I have taken responsability for my debt but am not able to pay it because I refuse to put cash in her hand... Does she have a ground to stand on when im trying to deal with att directly instead of dealing with a middle man that could take my money and run?

No way to tell with "napkin" contracts between freinds that arent freinds any more. If the account is not in your name, you may have no obligation to ATT, but only to her. If you cant work it out, may make sense to hire a lawyer to address it directly so that it doesnt explode into something costing even more to fix later.
