You may be able to keep your car in bankruptcy based on your state's automobile exemption. You should consult a local attorney. A certain amount of pre-bankruptcy planning is wise and legal, but the laws can be difficult to navigate without professional help. I suggest meeting with an attorney before you do anything with the car.
