How long can I be garnished for a past debt?

More details to this question:
Had a car repossession in 2014, they are still taking my tax refund each year. I can't afford to pay the debt and I'm sick of worrying if they can disrupt what I can afford by further garnishment, what can I do?

you need to file an objection to garnishment
