More details to this question:
Received a notice to appear in court and speak to a clerk regarding outstanding amount for creditorโ€” Sued. I didnโ€™t receive the paperwork personally but my neighbor did n gave it to me.

If a judgment has been entered you need to move to vacate it.  If a complaint has been filed, you need to answer it.

You need to determine if the debt is accurrate. If not byou need to contest the debt. If it is accurrate, you neewd to work out a settlement. In any event you need to file an answer with the court clerk or yopu will be held in defaault.
