How will I go by fighting a car repossion

More details to this question:
The loan was paid up to date arrangements had been made with financing company about th is months bill being late, spoke with company on Wednesday, car dealer repo car that Sunday, at that point the note was only 6 days late, do I have any rights or can they force a repossion on me?

UNless you have documentation showing a deal with payment and no repo..the 'ol..some guy said it was OK if I pay what I can when I can explanation doesnt get very far, unfortunately.
