Pay day loan

More details to this question:
I live in NYC a so called law office has call my jobs human resource office threatening about a taking me to court about a alleged payday loan I owe my job called me and gave me the message they left I called the number back they claim they are a law office for the client I borrowed a 180 dollars in 2010 and now they are taking me to court for 310dollars that I owe the alleged lawyer said I can avoid court If I settle the amount I owe now I asked him for the original contract that I signed with the so call payday loan company and he said if I wanted it that would cause his client to continue with the lawsuit and he would see me in court and hung up on me I have everything recorded what is the best course of action for me

There is nothing about what you have said that sounds legitimate. Such loans are not legal in NY and therefore it is unlikely that a law firm would be involved. You have a valid defense of "unclean hands" if they do sue you.
