More details to this question:
Hello, I recently fell out with someone and we used to do film projects together. I told him I do not want to do business with him anymore. Now he's upset and told me I am not allowed to use any footage he recorded. Can he do that? Especially since he initially said it was okay to use it. Because I have all the footage and its for my short film and it would be an absolute hassle to rerecord it myself. Also he's been trying to force me to sign a contract stating that I won't use any of the footage he recorded. Luckily I signed no such contract that he made. Also he was doing this as a friend so no contract was signed, no one was hired and nothing is on paper.

To many variables here from an in telectual property angle. You will need to retain an IP lawyer and go from there or simply re-record the footage if thats cheaper.
