QUESTION

Statute of Limitations:

Asked on Sep 01st, 2016 on Collections - Tennessee
More details to this question:
I had a car repossessed in 1999. They send a notice to my employer in 2015 from a court in 2015. They sent a notice to an address I have never lived in to inform me about a court date in 2013. I have never used that address. Can they legally collect from me this long after the repossession?

The statute of limitations for breach of contract is 10 years. If they sue you within 10 years but did not get service for process, then they can collect. You referenced 2 court dates. I would suggest that you contact the clerk of the court and find out when they first filed suit against you.
