QUESTION

Telemarketing Issue

Asked on Jan 20th, 2014 on Collections - Florida
More details to this question:
My dad is in business and two years ago received a call from a firm seeking to promote his website (he has no website) He never received a bill until a few weeks ago when he had over $2000 in charges. I called to find out what it is all about, and they replayed a conversation with him and another party. The person asked if he agreed to $800 to be paid by check or credit card and he replied yes. In the taped conversation there was no mention of a prior conversation where he was told that it was a 2 year committment. Since he had not cancelled additional charges applied. They are threatening a lawsuit for payment. (They are in Florida, we are in Texas) Your thoughts?

If he made the deal.....he made the deal. If they file suit, he may have to contend with it.
