More details to this question:
We won a judgement, the defendant has not paid, we would like to garnish his wages, does attorney find his place of employment or is that up to us? Again, how much can we expect to pay, to hire an attorney, to proceed with this?

Some lawyers handle them on contingency when relief is more or less certain.  So, you could agree to pay up to 40% of the amount recovered.  Most attorneys charge an hourly rate, whcih could start at $500.00 plus costs.
