My wife had approximated $30K in credit card debt in her name from before we were married with a variety of balances in different banks. This debt was taken out under an IRS Tax ID number. She did not have a social security number before we were married. She went delinquent some time in the year 2011. Only one creditor, Capital One, filed a judgement against her. She was living in Hudson County, NJ when this debt was originally taken out. She moved to NYC in 2009 before she went delinquent on any of the accounts. Then sometime in 2011 we moved back to Hudson County, NJ. Now we are living in Orange County, NY. At some point, she stopped receiving requests to pay any of the other debt. We asked the clerk's office in NYC and there is just one judgement. In Hudson County, NJ they have no judgments against her. Has this debt reached the statute of limitations whereby the creditors cannot make any legal claim against her to pay anymore?
