QUESTION

Who do I pay to release a judgment the creditor or the attorney?

Asked on Apr 06th, 2014 on Debtor and Creditor - Florida
More details to this question:
Trying to buy a home and have an old judgment. Spoke with creditor they say I owe less and will take less to satisfy the debt then attorney of record will. Attorney says I owe more and will wants more to settle. They do not know I spoke'with creditor but did say I had to settle with them and could not negotiate a better deal with creditor. Confused, the owner of the debt is listed as plantiff so who do I pay? Who is in charge of releasing the judgment? Thank you

Typically the creditor. If things went screwy you can usually make payment to the clerk for the value of the judgment and they will issue a satisfaction. If it gets off track, you may need to hire a lawyer to help get it resolved. You can always call our office to arrange for a FREE conference at 1-800-922-6442.
