Yes if you meet the residency requirements for that country and your State will recognize the divorce as being valid. That still may not prevent a trial if property or other issues are still involved.

If you don't live there, probably not. You will have to consult a lawyer in the country you think you might want to move to in order find out how long you would need to live there. Even if you can afford to move to another country, that isn't likely to avoid the cost of the divorce.

Whether you are able to get a divorce in another country would depend upon whether the court there has jurisdiction (authority). Most divorce cases do not go to trial. You should consult with a divorce lawyer.

If money is the problem, consider Mediation. If your husband agrees to Mediation, you can get divorced for around $500 - $750. Mediation is fast, effective and affordable. Good luck.

99% of divorce cases are settled without trial.. and Michigan is a no fault divorce state.. Why would a trial be needed? Do you have some extensive marital property to split or minor children to support?

You would have to be a resident there for it to be legal.

You must seek a dissolution [divorce] in the county/country where you reside. You should consult a family law attorney if you have any questions about residency rules.

If you can satisfy the residence requirement of the foreign country which would probably be a condition of the foreign court to exercise jurisdiction you could file your case in the foreign court assuming that you could satisfy that court's requirements for granting a divorce. I don't know that the cost would be any different in a foreign court so I would recommend that you find out what the cost would be before you make the move and compare the cost with what it would be if you were to get a divorce in Michigan.
