QUESTION

Can she refuse to pay household bills and my expenses?

Asked on Sep 11th, 2013 on Divorce - New York
More details to this question:
She has paid all household bills at both properties we own. She pays my meds and Dr. visits. I contribute $1,500 a month. She lives in Fl all year long, I live in NYC most of the time due to medical issues. I withdrew half of the funds from a joint account to put into a savings account in my name. We've had an agreement to live like this. She's had an affair and I told her we're through. Now she refuses to pay the City apt. expenses and my medical expenses. I told her I would pay the maintenance, Con Ed, cable, phone and Internet. She says That since I took that money (she feels I have no right to it) I have to pay the mortgage and equity loan too. Which, of course I told her that I cannot pay. Can she stop paying what she's been paying all along?

Yes, she can. But your situation is complex and you would be well advised to consult with a local divorce attorney.
