More details to this question:
My good friend is married in the Philippines but is separated with her husband for 5 years already. She came here in the US on a tourist visa. She has a boyfriend here who is an American citizen. If they get married, how long can she get her citizenship assuming that everything went well? If they need a family lawyer, how much would it cost them?

First she needs to get divorced in the Philippines. After she is divorced, she needs to talk to an immigration lawyer to get a fiance visa once she is engaged to the new boyfriend. It can take several years to get a green card, then the wait for citizenship can begin.

You cannot get married before you are divorced. You should consult divorce attorney and immigration attorney, or a practitioner who does both.

What your friend needs more then a family lawyer is an immigration lawyer. This field has become quite complex and specialized in the last few years, and she really ought to consult a lawyer who specializes in immigration law. You could find a lawyer through the state bar's lawyer referral service, or online (e.g. AVVO.com, or lawyer.com or others). Friends or neighbors who have had good experiences with particular lawyers can also be helpful.

Different lawyers charge different fees. As for the green card based on marriage process, it usually takes about 6 months.
