Court order of protection

Asked on Apr 13th, 2014 on Divorce - New York
More details to this question:
I was informed during a trafic stop that i had a court order of protection against me. I have a clean background and have never been arrested? i was stopped 2 days prior and a month before. i got 1 ticket form the moth prior and it was for a over due inspection sticker on my car. I am wondering how this could have come up durning a trafic stop. As well as never having a court date or being served with any papers. Is it possable that i was told by mistake? This has be quite baffeled and wondering. As well if i didnt show up to a court date wouldnt i have a arrest warrent out for me that the never presued during a traffic stop? my divorce has been finalized 4 years ago and have not seen her since. We have no children and i didnt contest anything durning the divorce proceedings. Any info on this or what i should do would be great. Thank you so much for your time.

An order of protection would show up in any encounter with police in which they ran your drivers license or did a wants/warrants check. While it's possible that it's a mistake, it's not terribly likely. You should inquire of the court or the police department and see if it's anything about which a response is necessary.
