QUESTION

Does a 'default judgment by declaration' mean I am divorced?

Asked on Aug 17th, 2012 on Divorce - California
More details to this question:
My ex & I have filed an uncontested divorce. I received a copy of the judgment in the mail & I have checked the courts website & it states 'default judgment by declaration 8/2/2012'. If not, how long does an uncontested divorce usually take to finalize?

You should get a notice of entry of judgment from the court which will state when you are single.

No. When you receive a notice of entry of judgment with a date that shows when your divorce becomes final, then you are divorced.
