Does my lawyer need to be in the same county as I reside in?

More details to this question:
I am going to file for divorce in NJ. I live in Somerset County, my possible lawyer is in Middlesex County. Can I use this firm as counsel?

Yes - you can use that firm.  There is no reason an attorney from another county can't represent you.  Sometimes, attorneys are more familiar with one county because they appear in that county most often and get to know the judges and other lawyers.  However, many attorneys practice in more than on e county.
