How can I confirm my marital status in the USA?

More details to this question:
I am from the US and my husband is from the UK. We were married in California and are just now divorced. The divorce was filed for and completed in the UK. How do I ensure my status is single in America?

You should get a certified copy of your divorce papers from England in case there is an issue.

Get a copy of the UK divorce, certified, official. It would be recognized here.

If you have a valid decree or judgment of Divorce in the one country it applies in this country as well.

You may need to register your UK divorce in you current state of residence.

You get a certified (or equivalent) copy of the entry of judgment that says you are single and then you use that in the US. If there are kids, you should probably enroll the judgment and orders in the US.
