QUESTION

How can I determine that I already paid spousal support in full?

Asked on Mar 13th, 2013 on Divorce - California
More details to this question:
The divorce decree stated that I had to pay $522.00 per month for spousal support because my ex-wife and I were together for 150 months. At present, I already paid a total of $78, 892.55. My ex is demanding that I pay two more months of spousal support. The divorce decree stated that I will pay spousal support until the total amount is paid which was $78,300.00. Am I not fully paid yet?

Yes it sounds like you are paid in full. One of you will have to file papers with the court to make a finding that you have paid in full.

If your payments were made on time, then it appears you have overpaid. Was there a provision for interest on the total amount due? If so, there are plenty of online calculators that can help you do the math.
