QUESTION

How can I divorce my husband?

Asked on Jul 02nd, 2014 on Divorce - New York
More details to this question:
o, basically I got married young and now my husband cheated on me and he wouldn't divorce me now cause he is leaving for army reserve on 8/19. He will be gone for half year and study medicine or something in the army then he will continue his college when he's back. I dont know anything about what he is doing in the army, and he said he cant divorce me cause he filled out all the documents with my name. What does that have to do with divorce? I moved out now but he doesn't let me to change my bank address and others, he said will cause trouble. What trouble? He has a green card after we got married cause Im a citizen and he said the army will give him a citizenship after the boot camp. Is that true? I seriously cant take this kind of situation anymore.

You can certainly get a divorce - contact a local lawyer and start the paperwork. And - the army doesn't give citizenships.
