My husband of 13 years told me a few days ago that he has gotten a lawyer and is starting a divorce against me. I am desperate and do not want this. Our kids are grown but this is not something that I want. How can I stop the divorce? Should I get a lawyer to help me stop it too?

You can't stop the divorce, but you should get a lawyer so you can assert your rights to a share of the community property.

Yes, by persuasion or unlawful tactics. Husband has a right to divorce. Try marital therapy to address problems and to explore new types of fun and fulfillment; sex usually is a vastly underutilized tool in marriage.

In Florida, if one party wants a divorce, there is nothing the other person can do to stop it. You can delay it, but not stop it. You should consult with an attorney.

The only way to stop a divorce is you continue to live together. You need to get a lawyer too.

You cannot stop a divorce... If one party believes the marriage is irretrievably broken, the Court will grant it. However, you absolutely need to at least meet with a lawyer to make sure you are protected and understand your rights and responsibilities through the process. Best wishes.

You should certainly consult an experienced family lawyer. It is very hard to oppose a divorce in Wisconsin, where the ground of the marriage being 'irretrievably broken' is difficult to contradict. You might suggest that the two of you consult a marriage counselorand you can ask the court for a 90-day suspension of the action in order to try reconciliation.

You cannot stop a divorce in the state of Wisconsin. If one person wants it, and can state on the record that they think the marriage is irretrievably broken, they will be granted a divorce. Get a lawyer to make sure that you get your half of the marital estate.

You cannot stop a divorce. Since you have no minor children, you need to live separate and apart for 180 days without reconciliation in order to obtain a divorce. Once you have done so, either party can request a divorce and there is no defense.

I would suggest that you definitely get yourself an attorney. You cannot stop the divorce but you can fight for what is rightfully your half of the estate, after 13 years of marriage.
