QUESTION

Is there a simple way to get a divorce? How?

Asked on May 13th, 2015 on Divorce - Florida
More details to this question:
My parents have been separated for years, and my dad is FINALLY trying to get a divorce. They really need to get it over with, but my mom is doing very poorly at the moment. She lost her job about 10 months ago, and she cannot afford a divorce attorney, and I think finding out that my dad is filing for divorce will destroy her. Is there an inexpensive, easy way for them to get divorced? They do not get along well, and I do not think they will be able to agree on things easily, but they have also been separated long enough that dividing things should not be much of an issue.

She is not in control and should see an attorney if he files. Given the circumstances it MIGHT be possible to have all or part of her fees paid by him.

They can use the Nebraska Supreme Court pro se forms and handled the divorce representing themselves if they would like. Note the forms are not going to work if they have retirement accounts, real estate, or a lot of joint debts.

If there are no minor children and there isn't much to divide and few debts, it shouldn't be so difficult. There is only one way to get a divorce. How difficult it is depends on how much the two parties disagree over what has to be divided.
