QUESTION

Process of getting a divorce after 3 months

Asked on Nov 28th, 2014 on Divorce - New York
More details to this question:
I knew before getting married that it wasn't right and even called it off. But worrying about others' thoughts and feelings caused me to just chalk it up to cold feet and resume with the plans. Now only 3 months into it and I'm positive it really was a mistake. So I would like to know what the process would look like, how long waiting periods would be, and basically just what I should do next. Thanks

Your easiest method is to simply wait until six months have passed since the date of the marriage and file on the basis of irretrievable breakdown of the marriage. Assuming you both are in agreement the only question on timing would be based upon where you live - different counties have different backlogs of cases - some take weeks, some take many months to process uncontested divorces.
