QUESTION

Should I get a divorce in U.S or home country?

Asked on Nov 12th, 2013 on Divorce - New Jersey
More details to this question:
Hi, I need help on filing my divorce papers. I am married 17 years but want to get divorced from my wife now. We both were born in India, got married in India and had three children there. We were living together in the US for 14 years. Last year, she and our three children moved to Canada. I am still in the US and working here. None of us are U.S Citizen. Do I need to get divorce processed in India or I can do it here? I asked my friend and he says it will cost me $2,000 if I file it in the US. What is the best and economical way? What is usual processing time for divorce? Regards.

See an attorney, you can file in the U.S., where you live, or in Canada, where they live. There are pros and cons to both.
