What am I entitled to if we divorce?

Asked on May 14th, 2013 on Divorce - Florida
More details to this question:
I am married for 19 years. Husband wants to take early retirement in another state. He has been the breadwinner so to speak. How am I going to have financial security when he leaves? I will not be leaving. Is it best to stay married on paper or best for me if we divorce? We are still making payment on a home, car, etc. He has a small retirement fund.

The only reason to stay married would be to secure health insurance. If married 19 years you will get half of all the marital assets.

You need to speak with a local family law attorney to find out what you can expect. You may be entitled to alimony. You may also be entitled to some of his retirement benefits. Each case is different and each case demands the personalized attention of an attorney.
