Read Rule 16 of the Utah Civil Rules of Procedure. The main purpose of a scheduling conference is to set time limits for any discovery, expert witness reports and the like. Call the attorney directly and discuss with him what it is about. He will probably fill you in on what it is. If you don't trust the attorney will be honest with you, then do it in front of the judge. Most judges will explain to you what is happening. However, neither the Judge or the office staff will give you any legal advice or suggest what you need to do.

It does not call for a response. The purpose of the conference is to outline the direction of the case with the court (discovery, pre-trial, trial, etc.).

The scheduling conference lists the dates that everything in the case is due. You should make sure you adher to all deadlines or it may be ruled against you.

You need to respond by getting a lawyer. You are at a huge disadvantage and things can only go downhill without counsel.
