If you were married with a valid marriage license issued by the County where you reside that was properly returned to the County clerk by a person authorized to conduct marriages, then you're married. Your concern appears to be related to your religious beliefs and practices, which should not be confused with your status of being married under the laws of the State of Michigan. You need to see a lawyer to sort it all out.
