why when all papers were signed in March did I have to go back to mediator

All the papers were signed in March and I was told three to four months for the divorce. I received a call from the mediator that I had to come back to the office. I signed more papers to verify my name address and social security number. A friend of mine used a mediator and didn't have to do this. I was told every thing was done in March. Will this add more time to the process. And is this normal? I don't want to reccomend this mediator If I find out this should of Been done already.
