I was pulled over for a broken tail light and breathalyzed. He ran my license and took my registration, then asked me to leave the car for sobriety field tests. I am over 21 and I blew a .06, and the officer acknowledged it was under the legal limit. He told me I could be arrested for blowing .05 or higher. He gave me back my license and registration and told me to go home, fix my light, and to stop driving for the night. I was nervous and did not ask any further questions. Is there any way he can mail me a ticket or citation later if I was not arrested, or notified of any possible charges at the time of the traffic stop? Is this over or should I expect more?
Yes, it is possible to receive a notice in the mail for a ticket. If that happens, plead not guilty, hire a lawyer, and fight the charge. Most likely, though, there will not be further proceedings from the traffic stop.
