QUESTION

Is there some way I can pay these fines off by doing community service?

Asked on Oct 11th, 2014 on DUI/DWI - Colorado
More details to this question:
I have a community service instead of fine. My court ordered fines were around $3,000. I paid about $1,000 so far. I have zero income and have moved (where the conviction was) to take care of my uncle (91 years old now). These one of them was sent to a collection agency then to the CO DOR. The second fine is following the same path. Like I said, I am in another state now. Thanks for any information you may give me.

Depending on what the fines and fees were for, you may be eligible to convert some of the remaining balance to community service hours. You do need the permission of the judge in the county in which you were convicted, so it may require a trip back to Colorado.
