I have a friend, who got a DUI in California in 2009 and recently got another one this year in Minnesota. I am not sure what the results were exactly from the first case. I know he had a lawyer and was able to keep his license. He was involved in an accident with the first one. No other car or injuries just damage to a divider on the road. He got no jail time with the first one either.
I'm don't understand why you are asking CA attorneys about MN law they know nothing about. Suffice it to say, he needs an attorney. A 2nd DUI has enhanced penalties, frequently mandatory jail, in every state.
His license and criminal penalties would be dealt with in Minn. If he comes back to CA he will need to take a 2nd time DDP an 18 month program. And he will have at least a one year license suspension.
