Why is my wife being charged with DWI BAC .08 if it's not for alcohol?

My wife was arrested for DWI 3rd Offender .08. I understand that the 3rd DWI will be a felony, even though it's not for alcohol. She doesn't drink. It was for prescription drugs. She has been held for 0 bond. It's been over 3 months now and every time she gets scheduled for a hearing, it gets extended because the results are not back yet. How long does it usually take for Harris County to get their blood results back? Why is my wife being charged with DWI BAC .08 if it's not for alcohol?

Depends on your county. Here in Harris that charge just lets me know that there is a blood, breath, or urine test associated with her DWI.
