You ticket for driving with a suspended license is a brand new charge with potential jail time. It may also affect your ability to have your license reinstated.

Driving on a suspended license is a new offense even though you were very close to reinstatement. If the DA drops the case, out of sympathy, then there is no conviction and the DMV can't do anything about the suspended license issue.

IF you get the DUI case closed as far as DMV is concerned, with a filing of completion notice of program and payment of all fees, then you could contact DMV for reissuance. However, your new ticket is also a serious probation violation, for which the court may impose a new suspension, or even jail, not just fines.

Go get your license show up in court with it and the charge may be reduced to driving without a license.

Sounds like you are being charged wiyh a VC 14601.2. The penalty for that can be more severe than the penalty you received for the DUI conviction. Talk to an attorney in your area to discuss defending the new charge (as well as license issues). Generally the new charge on it's own should not bar getting a license, but there can be exceptions.

The ticket may not create immediate problems. Conviction will be 2 points on driving on a suspended that could get your license suspended for points.
