QUESTION

Will we have to put an IID on both my cars? How?

Asked on Aug 14th, 2015 on DUI/DWI - Colorado
More details to this question:
We have two cars, both in my name. One car is driven exclusively by me and the other by my wife. As the daughter of a police chief and non-drinker I would like to avoid putting an IID on "her" car. Can I just sign the car title over to her or must I put an IID on both cars in order to get a restricted driver's license?

Consult your own lawyer, or call the prosecutor. I believe that some agreements have been made whereby only the car driven by the defendant is required to have the IID, but those were several years ago. I doubt that transferring ownership to avoid the requirement will help: in fact, it will smell decidedly 'fishy.'

You only need IID on cars registered in your name - but you have to put it on all cars registered in your name.
