Can a primary residence be taken away?

More details to this question:
Husband and wife own their home. Wife needs full time care at a home for the elderly. she is 82 years old. He is 72 years old and still lives in their primary residence. She will be apply for Medicare to pay for the cost. They have no assets except for their primary home. Is she a good candidate to receive Medicare benefits?

I think you mean Medicaid, not Medicare - but either way as long as one spouse is still living in the home the hoe is not an includable resource for determining eligibility.  Therefore, the other spouse can always remain in the home.
