Elder abuse/neglect in Texas ?

Asked on Sep 08th, 2020 on Elder Law - Texas
More details to this question:
My single, 61 year-old brother has been living rent-free at a vacant house I own. Recently his health has gotten worse to where he needs a live-in caretaker but he has refused to hire one. My question is, would I be charged of elder abuse or neglect if he suffered a medical emergency and/or death? Thank you !

If you were his guardian and neglected him, you could be charged. If you are not his guardian, he is free to make his own choices as long as he has legal capacity to do so.
