Senior mother has around $50000 in credit card and tax debt. Should we seek bankrupcy?

She is a widow and is about to turn 70 years old. Owns her home but we don't want to lose the home. Has a car payment. Only gets SSI and Dad's pension to live on. What can we do to help. She has acquired almost $50000 in credit card debt. She has been paying the minimum payments so isn't behind but it is a burden especially now that she owes $6000 to IRS because she didn't understand that taxes needed to be taken out or paid directly by herself. She is also a diabetic and requires medicine/medical supplies not covered/completely covered by insurance. What can we do to help????
