I was granted durable power of attorney over gentleman who has mental illness, he granted access to his bank accounts and allowed me to barrow money. he was recently taken to the hospital and the social worker applied for conservatorship. i was questioned why i took the funds and now there a court hearing for public guardianship. am i facing legal issues?

Very likely. The Durable Power of Attorney is not a loan agreement.
