I was on my way to Sour Food Bistro in Kingdom Mall (former Normandy Plaza) in Jacksonville, FL. Upon entering the mall, I slipped and fell. The floor was greasy/oily where maybe someone spilled or dropped their food. It took me to crawl on my hand and knees to move to a dry spot to get up along with the assistance from couple who was there. The gentlemen found a yellow "Caution" sign to put in the spot and notified the restaurant door attendant. I went to Doctor's Care the next morning in my hometown (Orangeburg, SC). No broken bones, but sore on my life side, knees, elbow and back. Was prescribed muscles relaxants. However, I feel I need to follow-up with my personal doctor because I am beginning to have trouble/pain in the left knee. I called a local lawyer. They couldn't help and referred me to Lawyers.com.
Florida courts would have jurisdiction over the accident. You may have a claim worth pursuing if the injuries turn out to be more serious than just bumps and brusies. Did you take any pictures of the area where you slipped and fell? Did you get the name of the witness who helped you up? These and other questions warrant exploration with counsel here in Florida.
