I've lived in N.Y. for some time but need to file an annulment for a marriage that occurred in Winston Salem. Could I file from N.Y. or will I have to do so from Salem and is it something I can sort on my own rather than going through a lawyer

If you have lived in New York for two years you can file here. However, filing for an annulment and getting one are two different things. Filing is easy. The rest, not so much.
