QUESTION

Back Pay and Current Child Support

Asked on Jan 26th, 2018 on Family Law - California
More details to this question:
I'm in the county of San Bernardino, California. My child's mother was reiceiving public assistance since the baby was born. I owe about $4,000 past due. Right now I'm paying $700 a month. My child's mother is on public assistance (which is less than I pay for support). How is the money distributed? Do some of it go towards the past due balance? And if my child's mother was to stop receiving public assistance will she receive the entire $700, or would the state still want to collect part of their money owed. She's been on public assistance for about 5 years. (Maybe up until now since it's fairly more than they give her)

How much is you are ordered to pay in child support? Whatever the order asked you to pay, you should pay that amount plus whatever to go towards the owed balance.
