QUESTION

Can I be taking off child support

Asked on Aug 08th, 2016 on Family Law - Michigan
More details to this question:
Recently the mother of my daughter moved out of state with my daughter. Before she left she said I had to sign papers with the court in the state of Michigan in order to make it legal for her to take child out of state. I agreed I would sign papers if she would take me off child support. She agreed but never showed up at the FOC office when it was time. She just took off. Is there anyway that I can get off of child support in this matter??

It is not up to your daughter's mother to decide that her daughter does not need child support. That is up to the Court, and, unless the mother is quite wealthy, I doubt the Court will end your Child Support, at least formally. Now, if Mom does nothing to try to get it, as a practical matter, no one will chase you, but it is a risk. Good Luck.
