More details to this question:
My husband was arrested for CDV in Sept. The court showed mercy and gave him a conditional dismissal pending his completion of 13 weeks of anger mgt. His treatment was suspended by the Solicitor's office and we're going back to court on 7/1. He is habitually mean to me. Yells, cusses, and demeans me. I am not in a position to move out of our rental home as I have 5 cats and a dog (which he beats the tar out of the dog), and have lived in fear that he will one day turn on me. I do not wish to allow him to live with me anymore as he has been the cause of us almost losing our home several times because of his inability to maintain a job. I have been in the same job since we married, he has went through more jobs than I care to count. I just want the smoothest easiest means to end this marriage.
Your best bet is to consult an attorney on the smoothest easiest means for you based on your specific set of facts. Pro se divorces rarely tend to be smooth or easy. In answer to your question, physical cruelty is a ground for divorce in SC.
