QUESTION

Can I file for alimony?

Asked on Nov 03rd, 2016 on Divorce - California
More details to this question:
My husband filed for divorce when he was in jail waiting to go to prison on a drug charge. The judge didn't give me alimony cause I assume cause he wouldn't get out until 2013. Can I go back to the California courts to request alimony again since he's out of prison? He cheated on me then files for a divorce!! I now live in Alaska and he lives in California.

As long as the court did not terminate jurisdiction over the issue of the spousal support, then you have a right to request it. The length of your marriage is an important factor. You should have the divorce judgment reviewed by an attorney in the State where the divorce was entered.
