Can i get child support in NY?

Asked on Aug 09th, 2014 on Family Law - New York
More details to this question:
I was married in China and lived in US for study. My husband is a H1B holder and his salary is 100K.I was pregnant and I didn't find a job in US so I have to transfer my visa to H4 if I want to stay. But he forced me to leave US by refusing transferring my visa. Also, he did not live with me and take care of my baby.My baby is citizen. After I left,I did not get a penny. Chinese police cannot help because he is in US.And if I divorce in China,I cannot get child support because he did not pay taxes here.I cannot go to work and spent all money on baby.I was also depressed because he harassed me by emails and texts. Can I get Child Support in NY?Does he have responsibility to pay child support even we are still married? Can I charge him for verbal violence? How much can i get?Do I have to go to NY?

If he is in New York you can seek support in the courts here. There is no need to appear personally - you can appear by an attorney. However there is no such thing as charging someone with verbal violence.
